LA MUGRE ROJA

LA MUGRE ROJA

YGR 22
cd-r (5€)

Martin V. Canova said « drugs don’t work » & (translated by the Young Girls Academy of Smile) it means “everyday should be a holiday”.

Well, LA MUGRE ROJA is Martin’s solo project. This young & beautiful Uruguayan is a FIESTA ANIMAL core member (probably the best South American freak band ever ... with true young & charming girls).
LA SALETE ROUGE is LA MUGRE ROJA. Yes, it is. I’m pretty sure. Canova plays intoxicated & raw songs recorded & mixed on different cassettes (you know, that’s why he released that on a cdr).
He used self-made percussion instruments, Creole guitar & television to create something like that: no- fidelity-orchestra-called-by-a-psych-garage-ensemble -will-destroy-drugs-with-drugs-in-harmony-with-the-ghost-of-Tinky-Winky. (not very funny)

The last track is a long psych & tribal odyssey recorded with a lovely drum & percussion demoiselle duet (Bianca Visconti & Ana Arioni).

Insert poetry & liner notes by Martin himself.
The cover painting is from Antonella Moltini & the layout (?) was made by Julia Saldain.

HEREHAREHERE

HEREHAREHERE

YGR 21
Tape - 5 € -

Primitiv & no-fi vocal duet from UK. Awesome free a'capella attack (throat effects, vocal incantation, ...). Somewhere between a rainbow in the african sky & a young girl singing alone behind Marty Mc Fly's future.

Veteran of the UK scene ... members of Slow Listener, running Archivo de Sangre de Dios & the old & obscur Curor imprint (since 1994 i think).
The duet is on a very fine vocal-focus compilation with Phil Minton, Dylan Nyoukis, ID M Theft Able, Usurper ... ETC. ETC. ...
Another cassette were released on the mighty Scumbag Relations dream team.
Follow the way.

Mini b&w poster (size: A4) ... a VEGETABLE SUN (ooohh man !!!) by the father Bart de Paepe (Sloow tapes, Silvester Anfang II, ...)
+ Other drawings, spacy collage & bullshit by young girls.
Every copy is different. Every hereharehere listener is a rainbow.

MAURIZIO BIANCHI - dekadenz -

YGR 20
CD-R (5 eur)

Bianchi began to produce music in 1979, since 1980 using electronic equipment with the avowed goal "to produce technological sounds and in such a way to work on complete realising of the modern decadence". In the beginning, he published tapes under the alias Sacher-Pelz. Until 1984, Bianchi published on other labels intensively as either MB or simply Maurizio Bianchi, sometimes several albums and/or tapes per year, as well as numerous tracks to compilations. Bianchi became religious and withdrew himself from the music business. Much of his work is sought today by collectors, especially as they appeared in extremely small editions.

Maurizio Bianchi/M. B. played a decadent piano using sostenuto and damper pedals effects.

CD-R (5 eur)

Buffle, Camille-Lili, Esther & Roxanne / full recording of the gig we played with our favourite kids last summer! http://vimeo.com/1491757 / CDR packed in a beautiful dutch wax african fabric cover. Made in Liège with much love.

LOVE MISSION !

AL AMOR DE LA LUMBRE - lumière hostile # 2 -

YGR 16
CD-R (5eur)

Since 2003 Al Amor de la Lumbre is a french band gathering Alix Marchetti and Stéphane F. in a musical exploration of all kinds of instruments (piano, balalaïka, synths, guitars) and different methods of playing and recording : sampling, recording through a telephone, tapes, dictaphone, collages, improvisation...
Alix Marchetti and Stephane F. met in 2003, in a bar in Amsterdam. Al Amor de la Lumbre, as they named their band, quickly started rehearsing, mostly in squats and abandonned building, and before an audience made of other local musicians (usually belonging to the new wave / industrial / experimental scene) and also some art galleries owners. Several gigs were organized in their native town Nancy (France) from 2003 to 2006 and they played for several art exhibitons, also with Alix's father, the contemporary artist Jean-Michel Marchetti (who recorded a song with Alix, as a child, with his long-time friend Robert Wyatt, entitled "Dondestan").

But the main inspiration source is their own lives, dreams and experiences ; reality meets fiction and dreamt lives.

JEAN DL / NOIR - Interior

YGR 15

CD-R (5€)

Jean D.L.

CRAIG HILTON - The Smoking Mirror

YGR 14
CD-R (5€)

The title of " The Smoking Mirror " comes from ancient Aztec mythology . It was the title given to given to Tezcatlipoca .. the soul of the world . The title of "Smoking Mirror" linked Tezcatlipoca to obsidian, a black, volcanic stone whose shiny surface could be used as a mirror. The darkness of the obsidian mirror symbolised the black/dark aspects of his being. Tezcatlipoca's bellicose nature related him to red . The original artwork for the cd is by Mascodegama , whose visual works i felt most complimented the Mexican/ South American usage of vibrant colors .

The piece unfolds in 3 sections . All 3 sections are quite similar in form . What i felt important in this recording ( as well in a good portion of my studio material ) was not to focus on one method of structure or a single sound source or sources altered throughout the length of the work .
Everything is used here .
Electronic sound sources , microtonal acoustic instruments , treated acoustics , found sounds , etc.
I felt that the main driving force should not necessarily focus on the actual " novelty " of the sounds displayed .
What drove these pieces was how they formed dynamically with the neighboring sections . No major themes are evolved .
It's as if walking without really taking the chance to see or hear everything in minute detail ... a large free-flowing cluster that has no beginning or end .
By the mythological nature of Tezcatlipoca , i felt this needed a much more dramatic point of attack more than anything .
I only wanted to construct something that would hopefully be as large sonically as the myth himself .

Track listing :

1. He by whom we walk ,
2. who is among us in the reeds ,
3. is an enemy of both sides .
