Giro is our local hero: he did lots of mystic free party's & rave dj set in the 90's, lots of osbcure tape & minidisc records (released probably for himself & some friends, 5 or 10 copies maximum). This record is somewhere between the night & the morning, when you're looking at all these stupid bastards full of beers at 5 in the morning, waiting the last party kick, sitting in a room with fire, next to Giro (GSO.7) playing the last CLIMAX of the night, just before we learned to sleep, just before.

Basshaters (San Francisco)

Basshaters is a duo utilizing double bass, drum set, and electronics to integrate acoustic free improv and electronic noise, two genres thriving in the San Francisco Bay Area. They use extended techniques to activate their large resonant instruments. Striving to match the fluidity of their acoustic music, electronics expand the timbral and dynamic options to new extremes. The duo seeks directness and intensity in execution; subtleties emerge from the bold statement of simple ideas.
In addition to Basshaters, Dryer & Heule have released an album on Creative Sources with clarinetist Jacob Lindsay. They have a trio CD with saxophonist Jack Wright, and have performed live with diverse musicians such as Michel Doneda, C Spencer Yeh, Gino Robair, and Damon Smith. Dryer has toured with the Flying Luttenbachers and Usurp Synapse; Heule remains active with his brutal improv duo Ettrick.

Foxy Digitalis Spotlight !

Je ne connaissais rien de Basshaters avant d’écouter cet enregistrement d’un de leurs concerts. Au fil des recherches, une page myspace m’en apprend plus : un duo d’Américains constitué de Tony Dryer et Jacob Felik Heule = contrebasse et batterie et de l’électronique (ce serait moins drôle sans). Le duo a déjà joué avec les saxophonistes Jack Wright et Michel Doneda, alors j’imaginais un dialogue déconstruit et cérébral...
Or, quand le disque démarre, un bruit de rotatives retentit, assourdissant si le volume est assez fort, qui vient peut être de micros que l’on gratte. Pour suivre, un larsen se fait entendre, des chants d’oiseaux (ou sinon c’est moi qui fantasme…) perdus dans un brouillard sonore épais et cataleptique. Les moteurs ne cesseront plus de suffoquer, de s’emballer même jusqu’à faire craquer le plancher (ou sinon c’est moi qui fantasme). Des pauses essayent bien de calmer le tout, mais rien n’y fait : le duo continue de protester, haut et fort. Le tout est aride et très impressionnant, Basshaters m’a convaincu que je fantasmais moins que je ne pouvais le penser…

Martin V. Canova said « drugs don’t work » & (translated by the Young Girls Academy of Smile) it means “everyday should be a holiday”.

Well, LA MUGRE ROJA is Martin’s solo project. This young & beautiful Uruguayan is a FIESTA ANIMAL core member (probably the best South American freak band ever ... with true young & charming girls).
LA SALETE ROUGE is LA MUGRE ROJA. Yes, it is. I’m pretty sure. Canova plays intoxicated & raw songs recorded & mixed on different cassettes (you know, that’s why he released that on a cdr).
He used self-made percussion instruments, Creole guitar & television to create something like that: no- fidelity-orchestra-called-by-a-psych-garage-ensemble -will-destroy-drugs-with-drugs-in-harmony-with-the-ghost-of-Tinky-Winky. (not very funny)

The last track is a long psych & tribal odyssey recorded with a lovely drum & percussion demoiselle duet (Bianca Visconti & Ana Arioni).

Veteran of the UK scene ... members of Slow Listener, running Archivo de Sangre de Dios & the old & obscur Curor imprint (since 1994 i think).
The duet is on a very fine vocal-focus compilation with Phil Minton, Dylan Nyoukis, ID M Theft Able, Usurper ... ETC. ETC. ...

Bianchi began to produce music in 1979, since 1980 using electronic equipment with the avowed goal "to produce technological sounds and in such a way to work on complete realising of the modern decadence". In the beginning, he published tapes under the alias Sacher-Pelz. Until 1984, Bianchi published on other labels intensively as either MB or simply Maurizio Bianchi, sometimes several albums and/or tapes per year, as well as numerous tracks to compilations. Bianchi became religious and withdrew himself from the music business. Much of his work is sought today by collectors, especially as they appeared in extremely small editions.
